Portrait de Femme: I have long envied painters for their ability to make visual the feelings and images that can’t be expressed verbally. I think that portraiture is one of the most powerful genres in art. Here is my first attempt at musical portrait making. This piece is a triptych of a woman at three different places in her life. First, when she is young and sweet and innocent, looking forward to life and love. Then we see her, mature and full of passion and power and she has her lover, her life, her work, maybe children. Finally, we see her when she is much older and looking back on her life. She is the same. Still the young woman from the beginning but deeper....darker, colored by the years in between.

Grapevine: was originally released in 2003. I liked it a lot, and so did everyone else. But........I acquired a Kevin Ryan guitar in Spring of 2005. It sounded so amazing that I didn't like the sound of "Grapevine" anymore. So I re-recorded it with the Ryan and really really like it now. You will too. Also, I left off the singing tracks and added 3 new tunes. So, let me know what you think. mc

Guitar For Christmas: "I have always loved and still love Christmas as much as anyone on earth. The food, decorations, present giving and good cheer that fill the season are as lovely as life gets. But since I was a tiny child, it is the music of Christmas that brings me into its spirit faster and deeper than any other Christmas thing. My mom always made sure that Johny Mathis, Andy Williams, Robert Shaw Choral were playing on the phonograph near Christmas time and as soon as they came out of storage, life was perfect... I decided to record only Christmas songs that have to do with Jesus and Mary, for this album. I tried to arrange them in an order that would take us through the story." Merry Christmas..........mc

Land of Enchantment: "Land of Enchantment, is an inspiring collection of music that Chapdelaine describes as "a musical portrait of my life in New Mexico, fashioned from the experiences, musical styles and techniques that I have known over the years." And indeed, it's easy to actually hear New Mexico in his playing -- from the wide open spaces and densely wooded land to the north to the solemn, peaceful deserts to the south... The album is as enchanting as the state it honors. And Michael Chapdelaine is a consummate live performer whose passion bleeds from his fingertips. "  - Michael Henningsen

Mexico: "Unexpected pleasures are often the best. Although Chapdelaine was previously unknown to me, I have seldom heard a more superb album. Other young guitarists have excellent technique, but few have such style and musicality, and Chapdelaine's tone is the nearest to Segovia's that I can recall. It's rash, of course, to go overboard on the basis of a single album, but if I were marooned on a desert island with a limited selection of recordings, this one would be among my choices." - Paul Magnussen, Acoustic Guitar Magazine
